Identity
The name Sparko is in-line with our team's values. It means "spark" in esperanto, esperanto being a constructed language which goal is to foster better dialogue between nations.
At Sparko, we truly value creativity. Our work environment is created so to help us being inspired.
The word Sparko strongly refers to being open minded as it comes from Esperanto. This open-mindedness can be seen through our technology choices, focused on open source languages and programs, as in our work philosophy.
This is why we decided to create a section dedicated to share our recent discoveries which often result from everlasting searches through forums and blogs in order to fix a bug or a need.
History
Sparko started in May 2009 when David Grégoire and Jean-Michel Marcotte partnered. Both having complementary backgrounds, skills and experience, the fit was initially good.
In June 2009, after only a few weeks of operations, Sparko launched its first mobile application, Biximobile.com. The mobile webapp was dedicated to the new and growing bixi user community.
Biximobile.com was the first application to give Sparko some media coverage. Notably, The Gazette, CTV, La Presse and Le Journal de Montréal, covered the development surrounding the launch and shutdown of the application.
Approach
We develop objective-oriented websites and applications. When starting to work on creating a website or optimizing an existing web presence, we first develop a clear work strategy.
Once a strategy is in place, we then proceed to creating both graphically and programmatically. The design and coding stages are clear when the work direction is set in the first place.
We follow our customers monthly with specific metrics to measure the achievement of the objectives initially set.
